Maria has experience in international arbitration under LMAA rules and litigation in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Her experience includes acting for and advising owners, operators, managers, charterers of vessel, brokers, shipyards, and P&I Clubs in a variety of trade-related and shipping disputes, including those arising from charter parties, bills of lading, shipbuilding contracts, ship management, investment, and financing agreements.
Maria is a dual qualified lawyer. She qualified as a lawyer in Greece in 2019 and re-qualified as a solicitor of England & Wales in 2022, after having successfully passed both stages of the QLTS.
Maria completed her law degree (LLB) at Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, and, additionally, obtained an LLM in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. Maria has a good understanding of and broad experience in the Greek market as she joined Preston Turnbull LLP in January 2021 from a shipping litigation practice in Piraeus, Greece.
