Maribel has 6 years’ combined experience dealing with maritime disputes, having worked in the marine litigation department of a City law firm and a Panamanian law firm, as well as for Venezuelan P&I Correspondents and for Miami-based marine insurance brokers.
Maribel’s practice has a particular focus on dry disputes, regularly dealing with issues arising under shipping and commodities contracts such as charterparties, bills of lading, pool agreements, sale and purchase agreements and marine insurance policies.
Having been seconded to the Americas Claims Syndicate of an International Group P&I Club, Maribel has also some experience dealing with wet disputes.
As a native Spanish speaker, Maribel’s work has a particular focus in Latin America and Spain. Maribel has written a number of published articles and is a Member of the Venezuelan Maritime Law Association.
Maribel holds a law degree from Panama, an LLM in Shipping Law and is a qualified English solicitor.
