Marisa Fytrou

Marisa has a broad range of experience in LMAA arbitrations by advising clients on a variety of trade and shipping disputes, including disputes arising under charterparties and bills of lading. Marisa also regularly advises on cargo claims, inter-club agreement disputes and performance claims. She acts for shipowners, charterers, ship-managers and P&I club insurers.
Marisa has developed expertise in advising on the legal and practical implications of sanctions relating to shipping and trade, with a recent focus on sanctions related to Russia.
She holds an LLB in Law and an LLM in International Maritime Law from Swansea University of Wales.
Before joining Preston Turnbull in March 2024, Marisa trained and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales at a Greek shipping law firm, where she remained for 2 years, focusing on advising shipowners and major Greek banks on shipping finance transactions in relation to every type of vessel as well as on documentation in relation to the sale and purchase of new building and second-hand vessels.
As a native Greek speaker, Marisa has a particular focus on the Greek and Cypriot markets.
