Lachlan has acted for and advised owners, operators and charterers of vessels, in addition to P&I clubs on a range of issues and disputes, including those arising from charter parties, contracts of affreightment, bills of lading, sale and purchase contracts, investment agreements and escrow agreements. Lachlan has particular experience advising on claims involving Iranian sanctions.
Lachlan is a dual qualified lawyer, admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales and as a barrister and solicitor of South Australia. He has experience in international arbitration under LCIA, LMAA, SCMA and UNCITRAL rules and commercial litigation in the High Court and the Court of Appeal.
Prior to joining Preston Turnbull, Lachlan worked in the in-house legal department of an international trade finance hedge fund. Lachlan’s experience has proved valuable in assisting clients on claims which have corporate and finance elements.
