Liam is a disputes lawyer specialising in shipping, international trade and commodities matters.
He has experience across a spectrum of dry shipping disputes, including those arising out of bills of lading, charterparties, contracts of affreightment, ship sale and purchase agreements and guarantees. He also advises on wet shipping matters, including dangerous cargo, stevedore damage and vessel damage claims.
Qualified in England and Wales and Hong Kong, he represents clients across a wide range of complex, cross-border disputes, including proceedings before the Hong Kong courts and arbitrations under the LMAA, HKIAC, SIAC and LCIA rules, as well as ad hoc arbitrations seated in London, Hong Kong and Singapore.
As a native Chinese speaker, he has particular experience in Asia-facing matters and regularly advises clients on disputes with a Chinese and wider APAC nexus.
He also has experience in post-award enforcement and interim relief, including applications for injunctive relief and the enforcement of arbitral awards across jurisdictions.
