Tony McDonach

Tony is an experienced maritime solicitor. Since qualifying in 2000 he has worked exclusively in the shipping/insurance sectors dealing primarily with litigation in the Courts and by arbitration. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, he spent 8 years working as an Average Adjuster.
Tony has worked on most of the main types of marine insurance policy, including hull and machinery, loss of hire, port risks, war, and cargo policies as well as some of the more specialist wordings, advising Lloyd’s syndicates, companies, and insureds.
He has advised P&I Clubs regarding coverage issues and has considerable experience advising the legacy insurance industry.
As well as advising clients in relation to policy coverage, Tony has extensive casualty management experience in relation to shipping casualties such as groundings or collisions, fatal accidents onboard ships and in ports, warehouse fires, and asbestos contamination.
He has a particular interest in General Average and regularly advises shipowners, insurers, and P&I Clubs on aspects such as the casualty itself and security wording, throughout the process to enforceability action.
He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and an Associate of the Association of Average Adjusters.
